Early Life: A Childhood Shaped by Struggles
My name is Gopal Raj, and I grew up in Panasapada, in a lower middle-class family. Life changed drastically after Class 3, when my father met with a severe accident and had to undergo a brain operation. He was the only earning member of our family, and suddenly, everything became uncertain. My parents, however, did everything they could to shield me from the storm. Their sacrifices became my strength. Despite the struggles, I excelled in academics. I was a shy and introverted kid, but my hard work earned me scholarships and good ranks throughout my school years. This phase of life planted two important seeds in me discipline and gratitude.
Searching for a Dream
Like most children, I had dreams, but they weren’t really mine. Being tall, people around me told me I should join the Army. Until Class 8, I believed them. Then, one day, our village doctor mentioned IAS (Indian Administrative Service). For the first time, I found a dream that felt like mine. Later in Class 11, I know about NEET and IIT. I rejected IIT, thinking coding was too hard and there is no carrier in engineering (obviously wrong) , and I couldn’t see myself in medicine either — being soft-hearted, I couldn’t handle the sight of blood. IAS stayed with me as my goal for years.
The Digital Awakening
Until 2023, I barely had exposure to the internet. My first smartphone came during the COVID-19 lockdown, but for only six months. In my 12th standard, phones were banned in my coaching hostel, so I stayed disconnected again. In April 2023, I finally got a phone of my own. That’s when my journey of self-exploration truly began. I wanted to earn money and change my life. I dived into the digital world blogging, YouTube, affiliate marketing, dropshipping, and print-on-demand (POD). Thousands of videos later, I was overwhelmed. But slowly, I found clarity. Print-on-Demand felt right low investment, scalability, and most importantly, the chance to create something meaningful for people.
The Birth of Minutefit
At first, I was inspired by money. But then I asked myself a deeper question:
Why will anyone pay me?
The answer changed my mindset. I realized it’s not about money, it’s about value. I believe that all people are equal and everyone deserves the right to look good. Confidence isn’t just a mindset, it can be sparked by how we carry ourselves, and clothing plays a big role in that. This belief became the foundation of Minutefit, a brand built to provide high-quality, minimal, bold clothing at affordable prices. Clothing that doesn’t just cover you, but makes you feel confident and fearless.
Struggles Behind the Brand
My journey hasn’t been smooth. In fact, it has been filled with challenges:
- Almost two years of delays due to lack of knowledge, approvals, and setbacks.
- My bank account was frozen by cyber police just because I received ₹1 from an Amazon seller account.
- I had to start with only ₹12,000–₹15,000, saved from scholarships and small savings.
- I had no tech background, but I taught myself web design through YouTube and built the Minutefit website from 0 to 1.
- I wear every hat myself: CEO, COO, CTO, designer, marketer, social media manager, video editor, copywriter, after-sales support.
There were countless moments when I wanted to give up. But every time, I remembered my father, whose blood flows like water for us and my mother, who dreams that her son will change the destiny. That thought pushes me forward every single day.
A Work in Progress
I won’t pretend to be perfect. I’m just like everyone else. I waste time scrolling sometimes, I struggle to balance college, coaching, and competitive exams. But I also know I’m improving. Now, I work at least 4 hours daily on Minutefit, study 2 hours for my graduation, 2 hours for exams, and I read self-help books before sleeping. It’s not enough yet but it’s progress. And progress compounds.
The Road Ahead
Today, I’m 20 years old. Minutefit is still in its early stage, but my vision is clear: To build a brand that gives people confidence, boldness, and energy through what they wear. To create clothing that’s minimal, powerful, and affordable. To inspire every young person in India and eventually the world to believe in themselves. Because confidence is not a privilege, it’s a right.
